1970'S

- NASA chooses Chrysler to produce Saturn 1 and Saturn 1B vehicles. The partnership is successful and includes the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz space mission.
- Despite the launch of the Chrysler Cordoba, the US auto industry slumps due to a Middle-Eastern oil embargo and the fuel efficiency of Japanese imports.
- In 1978 Lee Iacocca becomes Chrysler president and rekindles hope for US automobiles.
