History: 1940's
  • Company founder Walter P Chrysler dies on August 18, 1940.
  • The luxury-oriented Town and Country is launched.
  • In 1942, automobile production is halted and factory resources are diverted towards the war effort.
  • Chrysler supplies allied forces with everything from tanks to aircraft engines to trailer-mounted anti aircraft guns.
  • Later in the decade the original "Woody" becomes a popular post-war era convertible.
